Great catalog of books. Great location! Kids enjoy going to the library, nice children section that keeps the kids engaged. Nice facility. Just wish the hours were more patron friendly for working adults.
another reason to leave Southfield ... library didnt send me a reminder of book due date .. when i checked the recipet and website it was late 3 days ,, next day i took the book back ,, they charged me $4 fee ,,, and they blaming me without trying to find why they didnt send me the reminder email ,, I paid it and left,,,but i should leave Southfield
Location is nice and they have a very nice kids section, but changes over the last few years have made things here not very convenient for patrons. Other nearby public libraries like Redford and Bloomfield have longer hours "everyday" during the week and close for at lot less days during the holidays. On average this library closes for 4 to 5 days while the other close for 2. Redford public library on (telegraph and 6 mile ) is 10 minutes away from this location and you eliminate the guessing game of whether or not this is a late day (meaning they are open past 5:30.)
I am forever grateful for the Kid's section in the first floor. Having a busy, typically loud toddler makes going to the library a lot easier since there's a space for him. He also enjoy using the computer with the educational activities. This is one of the best libraries I've been too.
